Breast Augmentation in New Jersey

Breast Augmentation Surgery in New Jersey | Joseph Alkon MD

Breast Augmentation surgery is a procedure that may increase the size and projection of your breasts, and allow for a more proportioned and desired appearance. It may also restore breast volume lost following pregnancy or weight loss. This surgery entails the use of a breast implant to enlarge the size of the breast. However, very sagging breasts may not be lifted by implants alone, and a breast lift procedure may be recommended to be performed at the same time.

How Is The Breast Augmentation Surgery Performed?

Surgery is performed in a hospital setting, with a certified anesthesiologist present, for your safety and comfort. General anesthesia is utilized.

A small incision is made in the skin in an inconspicuous area so as to minimize visible scarring. Options available for the incision offered include a small opening below the breast (in what is called the inframammary crease incision) or around the border of the areola (in what is called the periareolar incision). Only one of these locations is used for the placement of your implants. Incisions vary based on the type and size of the implant, degree of enlargement desired, your particular anatomy, and your preference.

There are two options currently available for the type of implant used for your surgery. These include saline-filled implants or silicone-filled implants. The differences between these implants are reviewed during your office consultation. The implant is typically placed under the chest (pectoral) muscle (in what is called a submuscular placement). Less often, the implant may be placed below the breast tissue but above the chest (pectoral) muscle in what is called a subglandular placement. The location of implant placement is further reviewed and discussed during your personal office consultation.

Incisions are closed with multiple layers of dissolvable sutures below the skin surface.

The results of breast augmentation are immediately visible, although there will be some expected swelling initially following your surgery.

How Much Does A Breast Augmentation Cost?

The package price for a breast augmentation surgery depends upon which type of implant is chosen and the results desired. Package price will be discussed during your initial consultation.

Breast Lift

A breast lift, or mastopexy, lifts breasts that have sagged as a result of weight fluctuations, loss of the skin’s natural elasticity, pregnancy, or the effects of gravity. A breast lift may help patients regain a more youthful breast shape. A breast lift involves elevating the breast tissue, removing excess skin, and moving the nipple and areola to a higher position. There are different types of breast lifts, based upon the amount of lift needed. Often, a breast lift may be combined with a breast augmentation. These options can be reviewed with you during your consultation.
